For more than 60 years, Early Childhood at The Music Settlement has built a community of bright minds from all walks of life. From all countries. From all backgrounds. With the goal of providing a warm and nurturing environment that encourages natural curiosity, collaboration, exploration, and discovery while fostering a joy of learning.

Children at TMS EC are never bored. With specials including science, music, drama, and storytelling as part of our weekly curriculum, students receive a broad foundation for whole-child development.

Karen Heitlinger
MA-ATR
Chair, Center for Early Childhood
Karen Heitlinger has worked in early childhood at The Music Settlement since 1999. She was initially a classroom instructor and in 2005 moved into the role of Administrator of the Preschool/Day School programs. In 2014, Karen was named Chair of the Center for Early Childhood. Children’s joy is what draws her to the field of early childhood: the thrill of discovery, the wonder of new experience, and the exhilaration of new challenges. She is dedicated to being a resource to children, families, and educators.
